Rocket Ismail said that, though he would like to play in the NFL, he plans to fulfill the remaining two years of his contract with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts.
“The two years I’ve been here have gone rather quickly, so I guess the two years that remain will do the same,” he said in an interview aired during CBS’ “NFL Today.”
Ismail has two years left at $3.5 million with the Argonauts under a deal he reached just before he would have been a high pick in the 1991 NFL draft.
He said he has not been in contact with the Raiders, who hold his NFL rights. CBS said it was told by the Raiders that the team is interested in Ismail, but that it was up to him to work out his contract situation before the two sides could talk.
