IATA Forecasts Losses on International Routes: The world’s airlines are expected to lose $2.6 billion on international routes this year and another $600 million in 1993, the International Air Transport Assn. said. The estimates mean international losses from 1990 through 1993 would total $9.9 billion. Gunther Eser, the industry group’s director general, told the association’s annual meeting in Montreal that recent streamlining and cost-slashing by airlines, along with expected improvement in passenger traffic, are likely to contribute to a narrower loss next year.
