Ford Recalls 564,000 Vehicles: The auto maker said the recall of Taurus, Sable and Explorer vehicles is to replace faulty seat belt buckles. The buckles may not latch or unlatch as intended on some 1989-90 Taurus and Sable models and 1991 Explorers, Ford said. A spokesman said the company has had reports of five accidents in which the buckle failed, resulting in minor injuries. Owners will be notified by mail, and new buckles will be installed free. Ford also announced the recall of about 100 1993 Ford Explorers with four-liter engines built for sale in California. The company said the engine’s cylinder identification system, which helps control the mixture of gasoline and air, may be out of alignment, which could illuminate a warning light.
