Stanford quarterback Steve Stenstrom, a junior from El Toro High, did not practice Monday and is not expected to practice today because of a bruised left wrist and forearm, but is expected to play Saturday against USC at Palo Alto. Stenstrom did not return after suffering the injuries during the second quarter of last Saturday’s 41-7 loss to top-ranked Washington.

Frightening: Wrote Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, after USC’s Curtis Conway accounted for 210 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns last Saturday during a 23-13 victory over Arizona State: “Next Halloween, if you want to find a costume that will scare the devil out of Arizona State’s football team, find a Southern Cal jersey with the No. 3 on it.” . . . The starting time for USC’s game against Arizona Nov. 14 at the Coliseum has been changed to 12:30 p.m. to accommodate ABC, which will televise it regionally.
