Nieuwendyk had not scored in Calgary’s previous five games.

Al MacInnis assisted on one of Nieuwendyk’s goals for his 700th point.

Montreal 2, Winnipeg 1--Denis Savard and Benoit Brunet scored 44 seconds apart during the second period at Montreal to help the Canadiens extend their unbeaten streak to eight games.

N.Y. Rangers 7, Buffalo 6--Darren Turcotte’s power-play goal 58 seconds into overtime capped a series of comebacks and gave the Rangers a victory at New York.
