PLATFORM : We Shouldn’t Need a Poll to Tell Us How to Vote

Share

FRANCIS STRICKLAND, 86, of Corona hasn’t missed a presidential vote since 1936, when he cast his first vote for Franklin D. Roosevelt. He gave The Times his view on the polling frenzy in this year’s election:

To hell with all those polls. If you need a poll to tell you how you should vote, then you shouldn’t be behind the curtain pulling the lever.

People need to be informed about who the candidates are. They need to know where they stand and what their record is. It’s all part of democracy.

If you have a country of lazy people, who let the media or others do your homework, your going to get what you deserve.

People have to start learning about our country again. There are so many people who don’t know anything about what our country was founded on. They can’t even recite the Pledge of Allegiance. It’s a shame that we’ve become so lazy while in other countries people are dying to just to get a taste of what we have here.
