ARIZONA * President--With 31% of votes counted:

Bush 146,078 37% Clinton 162,263 41% Perot 83,067 21%

* Senate--Republican incumbent John McCain defeated Democrat Claire Sargent, 56% to 32%. Independent Evan Mecham had 10%. * House--All five incumbents--four Republicans and a Democrat--led their opposition. In a new district, Democrat Karan English led Republican Doug Wead, 51% to 49%. * Other--Residents voted 76% to 24% to impose term limits on state and federal officials.

COLORADO * President--With 84% of votes counted:

Bush 448,874 36% Clinton 512,631 41% Perot 292,957 23%

* Senate--Democrat Ben Nighthorse Campbell defeated Republican Terry Considine, 56% to 44%, to become the only American Indian in the Senate. * House--All five incumbents--three Republicans and two Democrats--won reelection. Incumbent Democrat Pat Schroeder won over Republican Raymond Diaz Aragon, 67% to 33%. In a race for an open seat, Republican Scott Mcinnis was leading Democrat Mike Callihan, 54% to 46%. * Other--Residents were voting 54% to 46% to limit government efforts to protect homosexuals from discrimination.

HAWAII * President--With 65% of votes counted:

Bush 80,646 36% Clinton 111,763 50% Perot 30,887 14%

* Senate--Incumbent Democrat Daniel K. Inouye was reelected, overcoming allegations of a sex scandal that surfaced during his hardest-fought campaign in 30 years. He defeated Republican Rick Reed, 60% to 29%. Independent Linda Martin received 11% of the vote. * House--Incumbent Democrats Neil Abercrombie and Patsy Mink both won reelection. Abercrombie defeated Republican Warner Sutton, 75% to 25%. And Mink topped Republican Kamuela Price, 77% to 23%.

IDAHO * President--With 74% of votes counted:

Bush 139,469 44% Clinton 91,159 29% Perot 88,174 28%

* Senate--With 3% of the vote counted, Republican Dirk Kempthorne led Democrat Richard Stallings, 60% to 40%. * House--Incumbent Democrat Larry LaRocco led Republican Rachel Gilbert, 58% to 42%. Republican Michael Crapo defeated Democrat J.D. Williams, 65% to 35%.

MONTANA * President--With 87% of votes counted:

Bush 121,692 36% Clinton 129,537 38% Perot 89,309 26%

* House--Montana lost one of its two House seats during reapportionment, pitting incumbent Pat Williams, a Democrat, and Republican Ron Marlenee, a Republican, against each other. Williams led by a 51% to 47% margin. * Governor--Republican Marc Racicot led Democrat Dorothy Bradley by a 51% to 49% margin. * Other--Residents voted 67% to 33% to impose term limits on state and federal officials.

NEVADA * President--With 45% of votes counted:

Bush 91,412 36% Clinton 93,687 37% Perot 67,735 27%

* Senate--With 1% of the vote counted, incumbent Democrat Harry Reid led Republican Demar Dahl, 50% to 44%. * House--Democrat James H. Bilbray defeated Republican J. Coy Pettyjohn, 59% to 37%. And incumbent Republican Barbara F. Vucanovich led Democrat Pete Sferrazza, 52% to 41%.

NEW MEXICO * President--With 67% of votes counted:

Bush 137,971 38% Clinton 168,189 46% Perot 59,865 16%

* House--All three incumbents--two Republicans and a Democrat--won reelection.

OREGON * President--With 18% of votes counted:

Bush 81,946 32% Clinton 116,919 46% Perot 56,006 22%

* Senate--With 18% of the vote counted, incumbent Republican Bob Packwood tied Democrat Les AuCoin, 50% to 50%. * House--Four incumbents--three Democrats and one Republican--won reelection. In an open district, Democrat Elizabeth Furse led Republican Tony Meeker, 54% to 46%. * Other--With 27% of the vote counted, Oregonians voted 57% to 43% to defeat a state measure to officially discourage homosexuality as abnormal behavior. They voted 69% to 31% to impose term limits on state and federal officials.

UTAH * President--With 2% of votes counted:

Bush 8,249 43% Clinton 6,737 35% Perot 4,020 21%

* Senate--Republican Bob Bennett defeated Democrat Wayne Owens, 56% to 44%. * House--Two incumbents--Republican James V. Hansen and Democrat William Orton--were reelected. In an open district, Democrat Karen Shepherd led Republican Enid Greene, 57% to 43%. * Governor--Republican Mike Leavitt led Democrat Stewart Hanson by a 43% to 31% margin.

WASHINGTON * President--With 26% of votes counted:

Bush 143,867 30% Clinton 228,362 48% Perot 101,084 21%

* Senate--Democrat Patty Murray, who proudly called herself a “mom in tennis shoes,” was leading Republican Rep. Rod Chandler. * House--Winners in Washington’s House races included Democrat Maria Cantwell, incumbent Democrat Norman D. Dicks, incumbent Democrat Jim McDermott and Republican Jennifer Dunn. * Governor--In a tight race, Democrat Mike Lowry led Republican Ken Eikenberry by a 53% to 47% margin. Lowry, a former Congressman and liberal Democrat, said higher taxes might be needed to balance the budget. Eikenberry, a conservative attorney general, opposed any tax increase. Eikenberry’s early edge in the polls had evaporated in recent weeks. * Other--Washingtonians voted 52% to 48% to impose term limits on state and federal officials.

WYOMING * President--With 27% of votes counted:

Bush 15,736 39% Clinton 14,188 35% Perot 10,682 26%

* House--Wyoming carried on the state’s nearly three-decade GOP tradition, reelecting Republican Craig Thomas to the state’s lone House seat.With 74% of precincts reporting, Thomas had 58% and Jon Herschler, an eye surgeon who switched from the Republican to Democratic Party, had 39%. * Other--Residents voted 78% to 22% to impose term limits on state and federal officials.
