The gravel-voiced singer was unfairly typed by her last album’s hard-rocking hit “Black Velvet.” Myles still rocks hard, but this album is riveting because her soft, melancholy side is so appealingly showcased through torchy, country-tinged pop-rock ballads such as “The Last Time I Saw William.” Arguably the album of the year by a female pop-rocker.
