GM, Ford Recalling Vehicles: General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. announced the recall of more than 500,000 cars and trucks, citing a host of problems ranging from potential fuel leaks to faulty chassis. GM recalled 386,000 1990 and 1991 models of Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Chevrolet mid-size cars, all equipped with power seats prone to short circuits and overheating. The world’s biggest auto maker also recalled 44,000 1992 Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds coupes with automatic control cables that can separate and keep cars from shifting into the right gear. Meanwhile, Ford recalled 52,800 1992 F-series trucks and 20,000 1991 and 1992 Ford Escort GT/LXE and Mercury Tracer LTS cars for safety inspections and repairs.
