Youngsters Make Mark at Castaic, Irvine Lakes

Michael Wamashiro, 10, of Los Angeles will remember the 5 1/2-pound catfish he caught at Castaic Lake. It was the first fish he had ever caught.

Wamashiro used a nightcrawler while fishing from shore on the upper lake.

Also proving that fishing has no minimum age limit on success, Michael Beadle, 9, of Huntington Beach topped a stringer of rainbow trout with one weighing 3 3/4 pounds while fishing at Irvine Lake with his father.
