Legal and Illegal Immigration: A Big Difference

Share

The study that will take place in Orange County that will tally the costs of illegal aliens is long overdue. Taxpayers in Orange County need to decide if we want to continue funding illegal aliens in the areas of public schooling, Medi-Cal, food stamps and welfare payments. The taxpayers, through federal and state withholding from their paychecks, sales taxes, property taxes, etc., are footing the bill.

Most countries guard their borders, and guarding ours isn’t racism--it’s common sense. Congress will authorize Border Patrol troops but not the money.

Some say we need workers from other countries in the areas of engineering and medical sciences. We have plenty of intelligent young people right here in Orange and Los Angeles counties who could benefit from training in these fields and becoming self-sufficient taxpayers. But heaven forbid we train our own; it’s much cheaper to import them from other countries.

It is suicide to import more people when our unemployment is already high, our water supply is dwindling and other social service resources are straining.

Why don’t we shut the borders down completely for one year, excluding all immigration until we can sort this mess out? It could be a trial project and we could let the American public vote to either rescind or continue the pilot program for one more year.
