Choice Hotels, the large franchise operator of Quality Inns, Comfort Inns, Sleep Inns, Clarion Inns and several other hotel/motel chains, has lowered its senior age requirement from 60 to 50 for its hotels in Europe and Asia.

Earlier this year, it had made the same move for the more-than-2,500 hotels it operates within the United States and Canada.

Choice offers two senior discounts: a regular 10% discount on any room at any hotel without an advance reservation, and a 30% discount with an advance reservation. The number of rooms available at the higher discount varies with each hotel, and is contingent on other factors such as the season and day of the week.

Choice operates 80 hotels in Asia and 69 in Europe.
