Don’t Forget Peabody

James F. Lee’s Oct. 18 article, “Memories of Hawthorne Haunt Streets of Salem 300 Years After Witch Trials,” was devoted mainly to Nathaniel Hawthorne. However, I think anyone touring Salem would be interested also in visiting the famous Peabody Museum founded by Salem sea captains almost 200 years ago. The museum is known for its collections and displays of New England maritime history. Also fascinating are the artifacts brought back, mostly from China, by the captains: beautiful dishes and figurines.
