The Los Angeles Times announced today that Janis Heaphy has been promoted to director of display advertising, and Len Pomerantz has been named assistant director.

Heaphy, who previously was retail advertising manager for the paper, succeeds Frank O’Toole, who retired last month. Heaphy, 41, first worked at The Times from 1976 to 1979 as a retail account executive and rejoined the paper in 1986 as senior account executive in display advertising. In her new position, she will oversee a staff of 280.

Pomerantz, 63, joined The Times in 1962 when the newspaper’s sister newspaper, the Los Angeles Mirror, ceased publication. Most recently, he served as The Times’ national advertising manager.
