DEAR DIARY

Share

After much prodding by friends and supporters, I, too, entered a race for state Assembly. Reeves could have been reporting about my campaign. Titled “Real Politics,” my campaign diary lists the same lessons he learned from his wife’s 104 days on the campaign trail.

I would like to underscore one of his points. He writes that “incumbent advantage is comparable to bloodlines in a monarchy.” Even in open races, incumbents reap benefits by controlling the political endorsements by PACs. Even the Sierra Club and League of Conservation Voters--at one time considered above back-room politics--bend to political pressures, as O’Neill found.

TONY FELLOW, PRESIDENT
