PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Watters Simply Too Good, Knox Says
Coach Chuck Knox doesn’t blame his defense for the 163 yards rushing the San Francisco 49ers’ Ricky Watters gained during Sunday’s 27-10 Ram loss. Watters also caught three passes for 16 yards.
“Ricky Watters is a great back,” Knox said. “We hit him and hit him and hit him, and it took a lot to get him down. I’ve always said you measure the great backs by the yardage they get after first contact.”
Starting cornerback Darryl Henley was wearing his right shoulder in a sling after being injured Sunday.
Henley, who stayed in the game after suffering the injury during the first quarter, said that he didn’t know if the shoulder was separated, adding that he might have a bruised rotator cuff.
Knox said that there is “a good chance” Henley will be ready for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
