GM Expands Recall: General Motors Corp. is expanding a recall of 1988- and 1989-model cars equipped with multivalve, four-cylinder engines to fix a defect that has caused about 20 engine fires. The recall now covers about 171,000 Pontiac Grand Ams, Buick Skylarks and Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais compact cars with Quad 4 engines. The engines may have faulty fuel-feed hoses that could leak gasoline and cause fires. GM had recalled 61,000 cars with Quad 4 engines in March, 1990, to repair similar defects.
