McCarron Will Attempt a Pan-Pacific Double
Jockey Chris McCarron will attempt a rare daily double on Sunday, one race in Tokyo and the other in California.
McCarron will ride Dr Devious in the $3-million Japan Cup and then return to Los Angeles to ride defending champion Flawlessly in the $400,000 Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park.
The Japan Cup will be run at 10:30 PST tonight, but because the two races will be run about 17 hours apart, McCarron will be able to ride in both if he’s not delayed upon his return flight.
He is scheduled to arrive back at Los Angeles International Airport at 11:04 a.m. on Sunday, some 4 1/2 hours before the Matriarch is to be run.
Flawlessly and Kostroma are the top entries in the Matriarch. Kostroma will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux.
