Aftermath of Fight at Hamilton High
I’d like to commend your story about the incident at Hamilton High School (Times, Nov. 1). It is not often the media take a second look at an issue after the dust has settled and the facts are available.
I visited Hamilton to talk with students the day the fight took place and went back the following day to meet with the teachers and administrators. While many at Hamilton were frustrated that media reports exaggerated the incident, everyone understood the need to focus on race relations and provide greater avenues for students to express their views. I am proud of the students and staff at Hamilton and appreciate that The Times made the effort to go back and listen to them.
