Cultural Center: West Palm Beach, Fla., the winter playground of the rich, took a step toward ending a reputation as a cultural desert during the weekend by opening a $55-million performing arts center. The Kravis Center opened debt-free, thanks to donations from scores of wealthy winter residents, such as philanthropist Raymond Kravis, a former Tulsa, Okla., oil consultant, for whom the center is named.
