A Cal State Northridge planning board Tuesday unanimously approved inclusion of a Women’s Center and minority student centers in the school’s long-range master plan.

The action will give the school’s Black House, Women’s Center and Asian-American Student Activity Center a permanent spot on the CSUN campus. The school’s Chicano House, which has been operating on campus since 1969, has also been included in the campus master plan.

The minority houses will be operated in conjunction with the departments of Chicano Studies, Pan-African Studies and Asian-American Studies, school officials said. The Women’s Center, which opened in 1974, will be coordinated with the school’s department of women’s studies.

The Black House opened this fall in the building that formerly housed the campus police.

The Asian-American center is expected to open next semester in a house also on campus.

The centers will provide a place for students to meet and hold cultural and educational activities, school officials said.
