COLLEGE BASKETBALL / WOMEN’S ROUNDUP : UCLA Routs CS Fullerton, 99-66

All five UCLA starters scored in double figures and the Bruins rolled to a 99-66 victory over Cal State Fullerton in the women’s basketball season-opener for both schools Wednesday night before 510 at Pauley Pavilion.

Senior guard Nicole Anderson was the Bruins’ high scorer with 19 points, but freshman center Zrinka Kristich was impressive with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

UCLA opened a 55-34 halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way, shooting 53.2% to the Titans’ 31.4%. Fullerton turned the ball over 36 times.

Of the five Bruin starters, three were freshmen, including forward Allison Arredondo (13 points, seven rebounds) and Michelle Palmisano (10 points). Junior forward Amy Jalewalia added 11 points.

Titan guard Allison Jackson had a game-high 21 points. Forward Heidi James scored 14 points and center Shefonda Colbert added 11 points and a game-high 21 rebounds.

North Carolina State 75, Cal State Long Beach 57--Danyel Parker scored 19 points to lead three North Carolina State players in double figures as the Wolfpack defeated the 49ers at Raleigh, N.C.

The 49ers (0-1) outrebounded the Wolfpack, 58-39, but shot only 32.3% and turned the ball over 33 times. They were led by forward Chenise Butler with 16 points and nine rebounds. Rayjanette Lampkin added 11 points and nine rebounds.
