Cypress Women Win Fifth Game in a Row

Cypress won for the fifth consecutive time, beating Citrus, 64-55, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Citrus.

Yolanda Hearvey had a team-high 21 points and 15 rebounds for Cypress. Tamika Harold had 19 points and 16 rebounds.

Joan Maruer added 13 points for Cypress, which led, 29-27, at the half. The Chargers outscored Citrus, 35-28, in the second half.

Cypress is 5-1 under first-year Coach Kevin Kiernan, who coached the Savanna High boys’ basketball program last season. Kiernan took over a program that was 6-21 last season.
