TACOMA, Wash. — New Age “channeler” J. Z. Knight--who gained a fortune as the purported conduit of the warrior Ramtha--has been ordered to pay her former husband $792,000 as part of a divorce settlement.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Bruce Cohoe ruled late Friday that a 1989 settlement in which J. Z. Knight paid her ex-husband, Jeffrey Knight, $120,000 had overlooked the goodwill value of her Ramtha Dialogues business.
Cohoe found the goodwill of the Ramtha channeling business could be valued at nearly $1.6 million and, as a result, she owed her husband $792,000 to be paid over a three-year period.
Her lawyer said she will appeal the ruling. J. Z. Knight could not be reached for comment.
The channeler claimed she could relay the thoughts of Ramtha, a warrior who lived 35,000 years ago on the lost continent of Atlantis, and charmed thousands of followers in the 1980s.
