City Wants Compensation for Chrysler Move: Highland Park, Mich., officials are seeking $42 million from Chrysler Corp. to compensate them for the auto maker’s relocation of its headquarters. Chrysler is relocating to Auburn Hills, 30 miles north of Detroit, in a phased move to be completed by 1995. The company, in Highland Park since 1925, contributes more than a third of the Detroit enclave’s $17-million property tax base. Highland Park and Wayne County officials are threatening to take Chrysler to court for the $42 million. “Whatever they’re putting in now (in taxes), we can’t take a dime less,” said Arthur Blackwell, chairman of the Wayne County Board of Commissioners. “We want help from a corporation that we’ve given help to.”
