Protecting Rainbow Trout

I have been a fly fisherman for 15 years and involved in the industry for more than 10. I have fished with hundreds, watched thousands and met tens of thousands of fly fishermen. I do not know of even one who kills trout. Catch-and-release fishing has been de rigueur for fly fishermen for more than 15 years.

We don’t kill them, we breed them. We fund and rebuild their habitat, then fence it to keep cows out of the water. We fight the irrigators and cities that would steal their water. We crusade for catch-and-release and single-barbless-hook regulations to protect them and then fight the Legislature for funds for the Department of Fish and Game. We eat cows!
