San Diego Police reported two carjackings over the weekend.

In the first, Ronald Nixon, 39, had stopped his car at a traffic signal in the 2700 block of Imperial Avenue about 3 a.m. Saturday when two men entered the unlocked passenger-side door of his blue 1984 Chrysler Lebaron, according to police.

One of the men brandished a handgun and ordered Nixon to drive, police said. The men eventually forced Nixon out of the car at 3100 40th Street, officials said.

They also took Nixon’s wallet during the robbery and kidnaping in which there were still no suspects Sunday evening, police said. The California license plate number on Nixon’s car is 1NBV061, authorities said.

In the second carjacking, Thomas Lujan was inside his white 1988 Chevrolet Iroc about 8:30 p.m. Saturday while waiting in the drive-through lane of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at 1096 Cardiff Street.

A man described as being in his mid-20s approached Lujan and put a handgun to Lujan’s head, police said.

The man then demanded money and, after taking cash from Lujan’s hand and wallet, ordered Lujan out of the car and drove away, police said. Lujan was not injured.

Police found Lujan’s Iroc about three hours later. They said the car was southbound in the 200 block of South Meadowbrook Drive when the driver lost control and struck a car driven by Eric Overstreet, whose 5- and 11-year-old sons were riding with him.

After hitting Overstreet’s car, the Iroc veered off the road and struck a utility pole. Police detained the driver and passenger of the Iroc. The car’s driver, a 14-year-old boy, suffered head injuries and was treated and released from Children’s Hospital.

The passenger in the Iroc was treated for minor injuries at UC San Diego Medical Center and released.

The Overstreets were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center after complaining of various pains. The children were treated and released immediately, and the father was released Sunday night.

Police said charges were pending and that the investigation was continuing.
