A ‘Nasty’ Ruling: The Supreme Court let stand a ruling Monday that the sexually explicit album “As Nasty as They Wanna Be” by the rap group 2 Live Crew was not obscene. The justices refused to review an earlier ruling by a U.S. appeals court declaring that a Florida sheriff who took the group to court failed to prove the album was obscene. Witnesses for the group had testified that it had artistic merit. The Supreme Court turned down the appeal without comment or explanation.
