Aerospace Engineers Retrained for Environmental Work: The first 26 former aerospace and defense industry engineers completed a prototype program to convert their skills for use in the environmental services business. Sponsored by the Los Angeles County Private Industry Council, the program has been seen as a potential model for similar retraining efforts nationwide. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors, the University of Southern California and L.A. Trade Technical College also supported the program, which will conduct another 425-hour course beginning in January.
