Intruder Robs 3 Roomates, Shoots 1

One man was shot and his two roommates were robbed in their San Diego home Monday morning, a police spokesman said.

Victor Aguilar, 19, was shot while struggling with an unidentified man in his bedroom about 11:15 a.m., officials said. The bullet hit an artery of his heart, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

Aguilar was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Tuesday night, nursing supervisor Tom Banaszak said.

Witnesses told police that three men had been sleeping in a duplex in the 300 block of Olivewood Terrace. Police said one man woke up to the noise of a struggle and found Aguilar fighting an unidentified man. The intruder pointed a gun at the roommate, who backed out and heard a shot as he called to the other roommate for help, officials said.

The roommates were then robbed before the gunman escaped through the front door, Robinson said.
