Metrolink Offers Free Saturday Train Rides to Holiday Shoppers

Metrolink will offer free train rides to holiday shoppers during the next two Saturdays, officials said.

One Metrolink line will run a single round-trip Saturday, and the two other lines will operate one train each Dec. 19.

Passengers who ride to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles can board the DASH shuttle buses for 25 cents and ride to Exposition Park, Chinatown, or the garment and jewelry districts, among other sites.

On Saturday, the Ventura County line will depart Moorpark at 8:30 a.m., arriving at Simi Valley at 8:45, Chatsworth at 9, Van Nuys at 9:13, Burbank at 9:25, Glendale at 9:34 and downtown at 9:50. The train will leave Union Station at 3:15 p.m., arriving at Glendale at 3:31, Burbank at 3:39, Van Nuys at 3:50, Chatsworth at 4:01, Simi Valley at 4:14 and Moorpark at 4:32.

On Dec. 19, the Santa Clarita line will depart Santa Clarita at 9 a.m., arriving at Burbank at 9:34, Glendale at 9:43 and Union Station at 9:59. It will depart Union Station at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at Glendale at 3:46, Burbank at 3:54 and Santa Clarita at 4:29.

Also on Dec. 19, the San Bernardino line will leave Pomona at 9 a.m. and arrive at Covina at 9:12, El Monte at 9:28 and Union Station at 9:50. The train will leave Union Station at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at El Monte at 3:51, Covina at 4:06 and arrive in Pomona at 4:18.
