SAN DIEGO : Sagon Penn Admits Parole Violation

Share

Sagon Penn, who gained notoriety for fatally shooting a San Diego police officer, admitted Friday that he violated probation stemming from another case in a move that could lead to a state prison term.

Penn, 30, was convicted just over two years ago on felony charges of falsifying court documents related to a temporary restraining order preventing him from seeing his former girlfriend.

After being sentenced to five years of probation, Penn agreed to stay out of trouble.

But Penn, who had used the name Meecee Parks for several years, was arrested in October for throwing a brick at his wife, who was sitting in a pickup truck with her 3-year-old daughter.

Sentencing was set for Jan. 15.

After two racially charged trials, Penn was acquitted of murdering Officer Thomas E. Riggs during an altercation on March 31, 1985. Another officer and a civilian ride-along were wounded in the incident.
