Topless Dancing

Share

This letter is written in response to the (Nov. 30) article “Topless Trouble” by Alan Abrahamson.

First of all, I found it despicable to turn to the cover of the San Diego County section to find a huge article dedicated to topless dancers. I was curious why this was such a newsworthy topic. It was horrifying to learn that topless dancing is a booming business in the ‘90s. Supposedly, it has been upscaled, making it a so-called legitimate business. My husband would not get off the hook so easily if he told me he had to go to Pure Platinum to do business. The last time I heard, it wasn’t a man’s mind that was stimulated when he shoved $5 down a dancer’s G-string. I don’t think it matters if these places offer valet parking or not. I would never consider a strip joint “classy and sophisticated.”

I find these places degrading, and I think it gives men an unrealistic picture of women. We are not just sex objects, put on this earth to entertain men.

I consider topless dancing a form of pornography, and in my opinion, pornography increases rape. (Executed serial killer) Ted Bundy said that the root of all his evil was pornography. It led him to commit his horrible crimes.

I cannot believe the things society accepts these days. I think it will be unfortunate and dangerous if we continue to allow topless dancing to grow in popularity.
