ANTELOPE VALLEY : Rick Norris to Quit Building Assn. Post

Rick Norris has announced that he will resign as executive director of the Antelope Valley Region of the Building Industry Assn. to pursue forming an Antelope Valley Economic Development Corp. aimed at stimulating economic growth in the area.

Norris served as the building association’s executive director for 4 1/2 years.

“I’m going into the private sector because there is an urgent need to bring more industry and create more jobs in the Antelope Valley,” Norris said Friday.

Scott Richter, president of the building association’s Antelope Valley chapter, complimented Norris’ abilities.

“We’ve grown a lot and Rick’s been a big part of that,” said Richter. “I think the things that Rick will do to bring economic development to the area and will be a benefit to the building industry.”

Norris will remain in his post until Jan. 31. No replacement has been named.
