Two businessmen filed suit in Philadelphia to force the sale of the San Francisco Giants to their Tampa, Fla., investment group, alleging they were slandered by baseball officials.

Vincent Piazza and Vince Tirendi want to overturn baseball’s exemption from federal antitrust laws, which allow baseball owners to block team sales. The two were investors in the Tampa Bay Baseball Ownership Group who failed to pass a background check by baseball’s ownership committee. They claim the committee’s chairman slandered them by alleging past criminal activity.
