CITY COUNCIL

APPEAL DENIED: Upheld the ruling of the Planning and Land Use Management Committee and denied an appeal to convert an audience “preview house” at 7655 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood to a 400-seat theater for live stage performances. The conversion would have disrupted the residential neighborhood, causing traffic and parking problems, according to some residents.

HUNGER FOOD DRIVE: Councilman Michael Woo has requested that motorists delivering food to the Columbia Square Studios employee parking lot in Hollywood today, for the KCBS-TV and radio stations KNX and KCBS-FM Fight Hunger Food Drive, be allowed to park on El Centro Street between Sunset Boulevard and Selma Avenue without charge. Bags will be placed over parking meters in that area from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

TRANSPORTATION STUDY: Approved spending $25,000 toward a $300,000 Los Angeles County Transportation Commission study of transportation in the Crenshaw area.
