British Airways Continues Expansion: British Airways took another step in its global expansion Thursday, gaining 25% of Australia’s Qantas by outbidding rival Singapore Airlines. The British carrier will pay $930 million to the Australian government, which plans to sell the rest of Qantas next year in Australia’s biggest ever float. BA is also bidding for a $750 million minority stake in the Virgina-based airline USAir.
