‘Ethnic Chauvinism’
The article by Sharon Bernstein, “Multicultural Approach in Schools Given New Scrutiny” (Nov. 30), is a move in the right direction.
For the past 25 years, racism has been promoted as pride in one’s ethnic background.
But such pride was limited to those with identical skin color and only for those whose skin was other than white.
Ms. Bernstein’s use of the term “ethnic chauvinism” appears to be the current politically correct form for what had been referred to as racism.
Hopefully Americans can soon become a society that is truly color blind.
