Share

Two community-based housing groups have been chosen for Great Western Bank’s annual Housing Awards.

Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles and the Skid Row Housing Trust will receive grants of $50,000 each to support low-income housing efforts. They were among five nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive awards announced Thursday.

Neighborhood Housing Services plans to use the grant to purchase land for construction or to buy housing that can be rehabilitated for sale to low- and moderate-income buyers. The group aims to stabilize deteriorating neighborhoods by making financing available to home buyers. It has rehabilitated and developed more than 600 housing units over the past eight years.
