CBS’ Researchers AWOL

A ad for CBS’ “Hallmark Hall of Fame” movie “An American Story” (Nov. 29) said, “The men of the 26th Division fought for their country.”

Nowhere in the movie was the actual 26th Division depicted. The 26th Yankee Division of Massachusetts, one of Gen. Patton’s 3rd Army Infantry Units, had a YD insignia clearly displayed on the upper-left shoulder. CBS’ movie showed soldiers with a T insignia and others with a red Keystone insignia. Also, it was mentioned in the movie that the 26th had been in Remagen. Not true. The 26th’s most famous battles were at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.

Some people at CBS failed to do their homework.
