PLATFORM : America’s Hungry

I think what the Marines are doing is great. And speaking from experience, I have a lot of sympathy for those people in Africa who are going to bed hungry. There’s no good reason for anybody in this world to go hungry.

But I have my own two children to worry about. And there are plenty of times when my babies go hungry. A lot of times, people are real nice to me when I’m asking for work or money. But other times, people treat me like I’ve got some kind of disease. I don’t understand why people think that the hungry here in America are not in just as much need as they are in Africa.

Two years ago, when my husband had work, we had a roof over our head and food was taken for granted. But things change, and now we have to beg for what we’ve got. We’re not freeloaders. We’re just asking for a little help and sympathy during these hard times.
