Kidder Peabody Faces Age Discrimination Suit: Kidder, Peabody & Co. faces an age discrimination lawsuit filed by the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over the firings of 17 employees. EOC alleges that the brokerage firm fired the account executives and senior managers, who were between 43 and 60 years old when fired, because of their age. The commission said its investigation showed that Kidder, a unit of General Electric Co., forced out the executives over a period of three to four years to make room for younger workers. A Kidder spokeswoman said she hadn’t seen the suit and couldn’t comment on the specifics.
