Children’s Shows for the Holidays--and Not

During the holidays, there are always “Christmas Carols” and “Nutcrackers” to suit just about any taste. ‘Tis the season, too, for other live family and children’s shows, with and without a holiday theme, from the Disney folks’ all-out ice-skating spectacular to more modest stage versions of fairy tales and literary classics.

World-class skaters team up with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Roger Rabbit and the rest of the Disney gang in an ice-skating extravaganza. Bob Baker’s Nutcracker! (Bob Baker Marionette Theater, 1345 West 1st St., (213) 250-9995). A puppet version, very loosely based on the original. Produced by Bob Baker. For young children. Children’s Story Theatre Christmas Show (Upfront Comedy Showcase, 1452 3rd St. Promenade, Santa Monica, (310) 453-8501). Seasonal fairy tales, myths and fables performed through mime, music and storytelling by the Upfront Players. For ages 4 and up. Sunday, 3 p.m. Ends Jan. 3. Tickets: $5.

The Legendary Christmas (Actors Alley Repertory Theatre, 12135 Riverside Drive, North Hollywood, (818) 508-4200). Santa Claus, Mother Nature, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and many more show up in this holiday fable for family audiences. Saturday-Sunday, 3 and 6 p.m. Ends Sunday.
