Behind the Scenes : L.A. Denizens Get Rhythm at Mossimo’s Santa Ana Soiree

Adding to his reputation for giving legendary parties, Irvine-based sportswear designer Mossimo Giannulli threw a Christmas shindig last Friday night at the newly opened Rhythm Cafe in Santa Ana that was as heavy as they come. About 700 ultra-swank party-goers came to boogie, play pool and cocktail past midnight.

Besides the local fashion and surf industry types, the affair attracted LaLa Land inhabitants such as models, designers and musicians. The roster included designers Rick Klotz of Fresh Jive and Dave Patri of Split, rapper Ice Cube as well as rhythm masters from Arrested Development and En Vogue.

Word is that many of them now have a grand new impression of Orange County.

Guests were greeted everywhere they turned by blown-up black-and-whites of Mossimo-clad models and porn cult idol Betty Paige wearing little more than a Santa hat. British-import the Brand New Heavies (a must hear and see) finished off the evening with a concert that had the house jumping.
