Recreation Program Instructors Sought

Share

The city of Moorpark is seeking instructors to teach youth and adult recreation classes, primarily during after-school and evening hours.

The instructors, who work on a contract basis, keep 70% of the fees paid by students who enroll in their classes. The city, which provides the space and promotes the classes, keeps the remaining 30%.

Shelly Shellabarger, a recreation supervisor, said contract instructors supervise preschool, day camp and sports programs and teach topics such as arts, crafts and specialty classes in matters including the use of computers or buying a house.

Most classes last for six or eight weeks and are taught at the city’s community center or a local park. Shellabarger said the city is lining up instructors now for its spring and summer classes.

She said prospective instructors seeking information on the classes can call her at 529-6864 during weekday business hours.
