At least 13 people were treated for minor nose and throat irritation Wednesday after they were exposed to an undetermined hazardous material at a building in UCLA’s medical complex, fire officials said.
More than 300 patients and staff were evacuated from an outpatient complex at the 200 Medical Plaza Building as a precaution after odors were detected on the fourth floor, a university spokesman said.
The irritating odor was detected shortly after 3 p.m. in the building near Westwood Boulevard and Le Conte Avenue, fire officials said. The source of the odor has not been determined, officials said.
