CONCERT: The New England Youth Ensemble will present a concert at 4 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Vallejo Drive Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 Vallejo Drive, Glendale. The ensemble, based in South Lancaster, Mass., recently completed a five-city tour of China and has performed for several seasons at Carnegie Hall. Admission is free.
JEWISH CONCERNS: “Judaism and Homosexuality: Gay Rights and Jewish Rites” will be presented at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 10 by Rabbi Harold Schulweis of Valley Beth Shalom as part of a series addressing controversial contemporary Jewish concerns. The synagogue is at 15739 Ventura Blvd., Encino. Admission is free.
JEWISH SCIENCE: The Society of Jewish Science will hold its monthly service from 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 10 at its new location, the Union Federal Bank community room, 13300 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks. The topic will be “Overcoming Timidity.”
