Ackerman Resignation From Pasadena Chamber

Share

The lump in my throat rose as Bruce Ackerman, chief executive officer of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and my employer, informed the staff of his resignation. This was the last thing I had expected to hear from him.

I am the chamber’s operations manager/controller. I would like to start off by saying that I am Latin and not a “young white female” that the press has portrayed.

The reason I have chosen to write to you is to inform you of a lot of misinformation that has been published. First and foremost, there has never been any type of sexual harassment in our office nor has anyone been forced to do anything due to trying to save money. The important factor here is that no one has filed a sexual harassment claim. Because someone says they saw something does not lend any validity to the allegation. It seems that people have spent too much time on something that is not an issue.

In the 3 1/2 years of my employment at the chamber, I have learned a great deal about professionalism from my co-workers and most of all from Mr. Ackerman. The staff is made up of very dedicated, well-educated, committed people. We have always strived for perfection and will continue to do so.

In writing this letter I wanted to stay away from pointing the finger at anyone; but the fact is, it’s not about pointing fingers, taking shots or, for that matter, being loyal. It’s about the truth and the community needs to hear the truth.
