The Rub on ‘Aladdin’

I couldn’t agree more with Shaheen concerning Disney’s irresponsibility portraying Arab stereotypes. I also noticed how Aladdin and Princess Jasmine sounded more Caucasian than the rest of the cast, with the exception of the Genie. It seemed the more “Arab” the character, the more barbaric or idiotic the portrayal.

Many people of color have supported the Walt Disney Co. by taking their children to Disneyland and Disney World and by purchasing their merchandise, including my family. We deserve much better than to be insulted by “liberal” animators who could have saved themselves much trouble by just consulting the ethnic communities.
