City Layoffs

It’s good to read (“Budget Calls for Tax Hikes, Layoffs,” Dec. 11) that the City Council had the good sense not to layoff building and safety inspectors and city planners, especially when the “last hired, first fired” are disproportionately women and minorities. Beside, how can we “Rebuild L.A.” without a permit?
